Monk must drop Leeds 28-year-old against Burton and for the rest of the season
COMMENT By Dominic Toner
Leeds manager Garry Monk must drop defender Gaetano Berardi from the starting line-up for the Championship clash against Burton on Saturday and teammate Charlie Taylor should take his place during the remainder of the season.
The 28-year-old has become a regular in the starting XI recently and has been a consistent performer throughout the season.
He is a right-back by trade, but has filled in at left-back during Taylor’s absence through injury.
However, Monk has continued to select combative defender Berardi over Taylor and it’s now time for him to reinstate the later.
The Whites suffered a crushing 1-0 defeat to Wolves in their last game and that saw them slip out of the play-offs on goal difference, with Berardi substitute off in the second-half after a rare performance.

Leeds still have their promotion hopes in their own hands and need to be offensive in their three remaining fixtures, which means playing attack minded Taylor as they push for maximum points.
Taylor has been regarded as one of the best left-backs in the Championship and is attracting Premier League attention.
The 23-year-old can offer Monk’s side a great balance and help provide a great attacking threat.
Meanwhile, Berardi is a more traditional defender and can be relied upon to do a solid job.
However, his passing went astray in the defeat to Wolves and could do with a break from the side.
