“I have to make the most of it”: Morelos breaks silence after sealing Rangers transfer
By Matt Farr
New Rangers arrival Alfredo Morelos insists he must seize his chance to shine after completing his move to Ibrox.
The Scottish club announced on their official Twitter account and club website on Monday that the 20-year-old striker had put pen-to-paper on a three-year-deal.
Morelos scored an impressive 20 goals from 25 appearances in all competitions for Finland-based outfit HJK Helsinki last season, and becomes Pedro Caixinha’s sixth summer signing.
The Colombia Under-20 international follows Bruno Alves, Ryan Jack, Fabio Cardoso, Dalcio and Daniel Candeias through the door at Ibrox ahead of the new season.
After finalising his move to the club, Morelos revealed in a video shared on the club’s official Twitter account that he is determined to show his new fans what he is made of.
He said: “This club has such a big support, so I have to make the most of it.
“It is safe to say that Rangers is a really big club and I’m happy with the support the fans have shown me already – it’s been the best.
“I want to show the fans here what I did every day in Finland – to grow more as a player and as a person.”
The club did not confirm the exact transfer spent to bring Morelos to Ibrox, but the Scottish Sun had earlier claimed that an agreement had been reached between the two clubs over a £1million fee.
Morelos had been recommended to manager Caixinha by his assistant manager Jonatan Johansson, who has put his ties with, and knowledge of his home nation to good use with their latest new recruit.
