Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has named fellow summer signing Carlos Pena as the best player at the club and the finest he has ever played with.
He also hails the support of Portuguese manager Pedro Caixinha, who he calls “the professor”.
But it’s his verdict on the Mexican midfielder who was the most expensive of Rangers’ summer arrivals at a reported £2.5million that could surprise the Light Blues faithful, given his stuttering start to the season.
When asked who the best player he’s shared a team with, he replied: “So far, here, Carlos Pena.”
The Buffalo, 21, has already become a fan favourite since his £1million switch from HJK Helsinki.
He has scored eight goals in 12 appearances for the Light Blues, six of which have come in eight Scottish Premiership fixtures.
By contrast, Pena has struggled to force his way into Caixinha’s team and many fans of the club have been critical of his performances and fitness.
In other Rangers news, a £7.5million midfielder is firmly in the running to be the club’s next signing.
