‘Morgan Gibbs-White exit view emerges at Nottingham Forest’ – ‘Surprise’ verdict
Nottingham Forest’s view on Morgan Gibbs-White’s future has emerged as speculation continues ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old has been incredibly key to Nuno Espirito Santo‘s plans this season, notching seven goals and eight assists in 38 games, but missing out on Champions League football has triggered concerns.
Following the 1-0 defeat to Chelsea, the Reds were condemned to the Europa Conference League, which could open up the Forest squad to be dissected during the summer transfer window.
Football Insider understands that Arsenal have joined the race for Gibbs-White’s signature, with Man City also interested in bringing the playmaker to the Etihad Stadium ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Given the extensive links with a departure from the City Ground, it appears that Forest are increasingly resigned to losing him ahead of next season, following an update from the Telegraph’s John Percy, and that it would be a “surprise” if he remained past the upcoming window.

Nottingham Forest ready to lose Morgan Gibbs-White
Speaking on the Forest Focus YouTube channel (27 May), Percy said: “There is a feeling at the club that if he were still there next season, it would be a surprise.
“For all of Forest’s growth and the progress they’ve made, sadly, it’s the state of football. If Man City come in for you, you’re going to go. It’s the lure of playing for one of those big, heavyweight clubs.
“Morgan’s been a brilliant player, there’s no rewriting of history here, but maybe he’s done his time, his journey is maybe over with Forest.”
Nuno Espirito Santo to rebuild after Champions League blow
Football Insider verdict
The majority of supporters are expecting to see stars move on this summer, with Football Insider understanding that Forest could replace Gibbs-White with Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott.
Anthony Elanga, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Murillo have all been linked with exits, and after missing out on the Champions League ahead of next season, those rumours could become reality over the next few weeks.

However, with Mick Brown telling Football Insider that Forest are trying to tie down Espirito Santo to a new deal this summer, the Portuguese figure will want to rebuild if any stars leave.
The 2024/25 campaign showcased just what the Reds are capable of under the right leadership, so if the majority of the squad stick together this summer, there is a real chance of silverware next term.
Given Forest are one of the bigger fish in the Europa Conference League, many will expect Espirito Santo to bring a trophy back to the City Ground, much like Chelsea and the competition this season.
