Gibbs-White reacts to Nottingham Forest teammate’s ‘exciting’ announcement

Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White was among several players to respond to Chris Wood’s message on social media after his official announcement about signing a new contract.

The New Zealand international has been pivotal for Forest this season, netting an impressive 14 league goals and has now extended his contract.

Earlier on 23 January, Football Insider revealed that a new deal for Wood was imminent, with a full agreement reached between the player and the club.

This announcement followed centre-back Murillo’s similar news just a day earlier (22 January) which he also shared on social media.

Taking to Instagram, Wood expressed his joy at the extension, stating: “Delighted to continue my journey as a Red. The support from the fans and everyone at the club has been amazing since joining. Excited to keep building together, let’s go.”

Gibbs-White reposted Wood’s message on his story with the caption: “Business”. Teammates Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga also chimed in, with Hudson-Odoi saying “Love it” and Elanga adding “Congratulations brother”. Meanwhile, Neco Williams took a more humorous approach, simply writing “Finally”.

Nottingham Forest and Chris Wood have European ambitions and are proving it

Wood was able to discuss a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs from 1 January, but Forest have now secured his future by tying the in-form striker to a new contract.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are currently sitting third in the table as they push for Champions League qualification.

Wood’s form has been key in this run of form, as he’s just a four goals behind Mohamed Salah, who is at the top of the Golden Boot race with 18 goals.

His £15 million switch from Newcastle [Sky Sports] looks set to be a deal worth remembering for the ages if the club finishes in a Champions League spot this season.
