Morgan Gibbs-White reacts to Murillo message amid Nottingham Forest exit rumours
Morgan Gibbs-White reacted to a message from Nottingham Forest teammate Murillo following a crucial win over Tottenham.
Midway through the season, the Tricky Trees looked to be cruising to a stunning third-placed finish, thereby qualifying for Champions League football for the first time since the 1980s.
However, a run of just three wins in eight games since the 7-0 trouncing of Brighton has given rivals Newcastle, Chelsea, and Man City a chance to close the gap on Nuno Espirito Santo’s men.
With a game in hand going into Monday night’s (21 April) match-up with Tottenham, Forest desperately needed a win to reclaim third place in the Premier League table.
Elliot Anderson gave the Tricky Trees an early lead, before Chris Wood scored his first goal since suffering an injury on international duty with New Zealand.
Everton transfer target Richarlison halved Forest‘s lead in the second half, but Santo’s side held on to keep their Champions League hopes alive.

Murillo sends fighting message to Nottingham Forest fans
Following the win, Chelsea transfer target Murillo shared three images of himself in action to Instagram, captioned: “The war continues”.
The post was then liked by Gibbs-White, who is a target for Man City in the upcoming transfer window.
Whilst both players are linked with moves away from the City Ground this summer, fans and staff alike will be desperate to see the club retain their services.
Nottingham Forest find form as Champions League race heats up
Football Insider Verdict
With three crucial points gained on Monday night against Tottenham, Champions League qualification is now firmly in Forest’s hands.
Whilst their goal difference is currently the lowest of any team in the race for a spot in Europe’s premier competition, barring Aston Villa, the Garibaldi’s run of fixtures is also arguably the kindest.
Brentford and Crystal Palace will be difficult fixtures, but Forest have won against both teams this season.
Forest remaining Premier League fixtures | Home/Away | Date | Current league position |
Brentford | Home | 1 May | 11th |
Crystal Palace | Away | 5 May | 12th |
Leicester | Home | 11 May | 19th |
West Ham | Away | 18 May | 17th |
Chelsea | Home | 25 May | 6th |
West Ham and Leicester have little to play for, but will be dangerous opponents with teams full of players looking to audition for a move elsewhere in the summer.
However, what it may all come down to is their final game of the season, when they welcome Chelsea to the City Ground, in a match that could be a winner-takes-all play-in for Champions League football.
