Morgan Rogers, Gibbs-White react to message from heartbroken Neco Williams
Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers and Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White reacted to a message from Neco Williams on social media.
The Tricky Trees looked to be on track for a return to the pinnacle of European football after a 46-year absence from the Champions League.
But two wins from their final eight games of the 2024/25 season saw them slip from the top five, and a 1-0 loss to Chelsea on the final day of the season condemned them to a place in the Conference League.
Whilst still a remarkable accomplishment from a team many had pegged as relegation contenders at the beginning of the season, it’s fair to say the collapse did not go down well with the club’s hierarchy.
Evangelos Marinakis stormed the pitch to confront Nuno Espirito Santo during their 2-2 draw with Leicester on 11 May, drawing criticism from Gary Neville, which then led to the pundit being denied entry to the City Ground by the Midlands club.
And Forest have received another setback, after one of their key players from the club’s run to European football picked up an injury whilst on international duty.

Neco Williams shares message after injury setback
Williams joined up with the Wales squad and started in the 3-0 win over Liechtenstein on Friday, 6 June.
But the fullback was forced off after just 24 minutes, having suffered an injury, being replaced by Coventry City defender Jay DaSilva.
Williams took to Instagram, sharing two images from his limited action with his national team, captioned: “So frustrating to pick up this injury at the end of the season but now it’s rest, recover and get back ready for pre season”.
The post was then liked by Arsenal transfer target Rogers and the 24-year-old’s teammate Gibbs-White, with the duo showing their support for the injured defender.
Nottingham Forest continue recruitment of Brazilian stars
Football Insider Verdict
Forest already have four Brazilians in their squad, and are looking to add three more this summer.
Whilst Carlos Miguel and Danilo featured infrequently under Santo, Morato and Murillo were key members of the Tricky Trees’ squad, with the latter starting 36 matches in the Premier League last season.
Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness revealed to Football Insider that Forest plan to sign Igor Jesus, Cuiabano, and Jair Cunha for a combined fee of almost £30million.

Whilst the former Toffees chief does not expect the trio to be a major part of their squad next season, it shows the Midlands sides’ strong presence in a country famed for its production of talented players.
In a world where unearthing true hidden gems becomes harder and harder, due to the depth of scouting databases available to football clubs, Forest look to have gotten a bargain for three talented youngsters.
