‘Motherwell to secure huge bonus clause on big-money Lennon Miller transfer’
Motherwell will land a major financial bonus clause if they sell Lennon Miller in a big money deal, Michael Stewart and Alan Hutton have said.
The 18-year-old came through the youth ranks at Fir Park, and is now already catching plenty of attention and transfer interest following some outstanding performances at first-team level.
Celtic have already been touted to beat Rangers to the signing of Miller due to a financial edge, with both Old Firm clubs seemingly keen on the midfielder.
Amid that interest, there is now an expectation that Motherwell will recoup a big financial return on Miller, both immediately and in the future, regardless of where he goes, although less than if he were coming through in England.
Lennon Miller price tag and sell-on claim made
Although Miller remained at Fir Park in the January transfer window, it is likely the teenager will attract attention again when the market reopens in the summer.
As a result, there is likely to be plenty of discussion about just how much the Motherwell star is worth, a debate that has already begin among pundits.

Speaking on Premier Sports about how much Miller is worth, former Hearts and Hibernian midfielder Michael Stewart suggested a fee of £14-15million, to laughter from Darrell Currie and Alan Hutton.
Former Rangers defender Hutton then stated: “Five or six million I would have said. I mean I still think you’re getting a right good deal, loads of potential, the age, what he’s shown already, he can still go again. So look, there could be a sell-on clause within there as well that they would like.”
In response, Stewart added: “I think that the sell-on clause is an absolute guaranteed stick-on, they will get that. I’m not sure they will get five or six unfortunately.
“I think it might be slightly lower, but with a big sell-on of course in that”.
After Currie noted claims of a £4million bid in the winter, Stewart continued: “Yeah so I think it could be around about that figure that they eventually get, with a big sell-on clause.”
After that, the ex-midfielder claimed he does believe that Miller is as good as players being sold for £15million in England, but does not believe he would be sold for such a fee while playing in Scotland, noting he is worth what clubs are willing to pay for him.
Motherwell can look forward to big transfer windfall
Football Insider Verdict
The fees that are being discussed for Miller here do feel like a sizable amount for a club that are in the position that Motherwell are, and they should surely expect to receive such an amount.
Celtic’s success in reaching the Champions League knockout stages this season has come with a big financial boost of its own.
As a result, they should have the funds available to sanction this move, and be a far more appealing destination than Rangers given the pressure Philippe Clement is under.

If Miller continues to progress in the way he has so far at Motherwell, there is no reason to imagine he could then be sold for an even bigger fee further down the line.
That would then secure another income boost at Fir Park, considering any sensible club would include a sell-on clause in a deal to let a player such as Miller depart.
So while it may be disappointing for the club to lose such an outstanding academy prospect, the finances they could earn from it would be a major boost for the future of the club.
