Murillo has surely thrown Sean Dyche under the bus after behind-the-scenes Nottingham Forest developments
Murillo could have played a major role in Sean Dyche’s sacking following Nottingham Forest’s drab performance against Wolves on Wednesday.
Forest drew 0-0 against Rob Edwards’ side, who are sitting rock-bottom of the Premier League by nine points and are edging closer to an early return to the Championship.
Despite an exciting loan move from Napoli, Lorenzo Lucca made just two passes against Wolves, also missing an incredible chance to open the scoring, leaving everyone at the City Ground furious.
The Reds had more than enough talent to secure an important three points at home, but even with a total of 35 shots taken [FotMob], they failed to break the deadlock and sit 17th in the league standings.
Murillo joins an ever-growing injury list at Nottingham Forest
Injuries should never be blamed for a team’s pitfalls. Thomas Frank learned that at Tottenham, just a few months after Spurs parted ways with Ange Postecoglou.
However, heading into the clash against Wolves, Forest were without Chris Wood, John Victor, Matz Sels, Nicolo Savona, and Murillo, who has been an integral part of the back line for multiple seasons.
The Tricky Trees have certainly not had a squeaky clean treatment room this season, but that is not an excuse for the challenges they have faced. It could have played a role in Dyche’s demise, though.

According to talkSPORT (12 February), five players were called into Evangelos Marinakis‘ office following the goalless draw, with concerns over the ex-manager’s training sessions and playing style.
Evangelos Marinakis calls on players before sacking Sean Dyche
It appears that Murillo has been specifically impacted by Dyche’s training style, given that the centre-back was missing Brighton, Wolves and Everton back in November, and the most recent two games.
He also suffered problems during Postecoglou’s reign, with the Brazilian being forced to run a lot more due to the Australian’s high line in matches. His worries could have been expressed at the same time.
While the report does not reveal who was called into the office, it would not be a surprise if one of them was Murillo, a player who has had more than one injury issue since Dyche’s arrival in October.
Given the results under the former Everton man, his departure was inevitable, but some of the players speaking out after full-time on Wednesday, 11 February, surely sped up the process.
