Murillo sends stunned response to Igor Jesus after impressive Nottingham Forest display

Nottingham Forest defender Murillo shared his reaction to fellow Brazil and club teammate Igor Jesus’ latest performance.

Nottingham Forest saw a 2-2 draw with Real Betis on their return to European football for the first time in nearly three decades.

However, their return didn’t get off to the greatest start, as Cedric Bakumbu opened the scoring for the home side, but Jesus had a stunning first-half performance as he netted a brace. Former Man United winger Antony then scored late in the game to rescue a point.

Still, Jesus’ display was impressive as he took Chris Wood’s place in the line-up, and now, his teammate Murillo dedicated a message to the forward.

Murillo praises Igor Jesus after Nottingham Forest brace

Murillo is currently sidelined for Forest after sustaining an injury when he was forced off against Arsenal in Ange Postecoglou’s first game in charge.

But he has still shown his support, as he posted a video of Jesus’ goal whilst tagging him to say: “Voce e um fenomeno”, which translates to “You are phenomenal” in English.

Jesus matched a historic feat after his brace, as the 24-year-old has become just the fifth player to score twice in both of his first two starts for a Premier League side.

He has netted four goals in just two starts so far, as he competes with Chris Wood for a starting spot in the starting XI.

The forward was signed in the summer window for a reported £10 million fee on a four-year deal from Botafogo, and has hit the ground running immediately.

Nottingham Forest’s focus on Brazilian talent paying dividends

Forest’s transfer strategy to target Brazilians continues to bear fruit, with Murillo’s consistent performances and Jesus’ recent rise.

Football Insider revealed teams such as Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in Murillo following his displays ever since joining from Corinthians.

This summer, after Edu was appointed as Global Head of Football, they signed four players from Botafogo, including Jesus, Jair Cunha, John Victor and Cuiabano.

While some players arrive relatively unknown, their transfer recruitment is clearly showing their impact on the pitch and could give the club a valuable edge in the market to further strengthen Postecoglou’s squad.
