Murillo, Strand Larsen react to Wolves star Joao Gomes’ announcement
Nottingham Forest defender Murillo and Wolves striker have reacted to an announcement from Joao Gomes on social media.
Having joined the Old Gold from Flamengo in January 2023, the midfielder has gone on to become one of the Premier League’s most highly-rated young talents.
Gomes was a target for Liverpool and Man United in January, highlighting just how good the 24-year-old had been, given the Midlands side were on a terrible run of form at that point.
But rather than leave Molineux, Gomes committed his future to Wolves, signing a new contract to extend his stay at the club.
Since then, the club have found their feet under Vitor Pereira and flown up the Premier League table.

Joao Gomes announced as Wolves Supporters’ Player of the Season
Following a fantastic year with Wolves, Gomes was named the Supporters’ Player of the Season.
Posing with his award, the midfielder shared a message on Instagram that read: “Big thanks to Wolves fans and supporters for your support and love all season long. I thank you for the recognition by giving me the best player award of 2024/25.
“A season that will always have a special place in my career.
“Thank you for always believing in our team.
“Special thanks to my colleagues. Without a strong collective, no individual appears. Always together”.
The post was liked by international teammate and Chelsea transfer target Murillo, and fellow Old Gold ace Strand Larsen.
Wolves desperate to hang on to Joao Gomes ahead of Matheus Cunha departure
Football Insider Verdict
Following the culmination of the Premier League season, marked by a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth, Matheus Cunha looks set to leave Wolves.
The Brazilian forward has been in inspired form for the Old Gold, scoring 15 goals and assisting 6.
But with Cunha looking likely to join Man United, Wolves find themselves in a precarious position.

Finding a replacement for the striker will likely take up much of the summer, meaning that losing their other best players may leave them with little time, or money, to find alternatives.
Gomes committing his future to Wolves in the winter was a huge bonus for the Midlands side, but they will have to continue to placate the midfielder with a good summer window, or else risk losing another key piece of their side.
