'I have no doubt' - Murty pinpoints which Rangers player has potential to be captain

Rangers manager Graeme Murty believes Russell Martin has “captain potential” for the Gers with Lee Wallace still on the sidelines.
Martin only joined the Gers earlier this week and brings a huge amount of experience to the Rangers defence.
Since Wallace picked up an injury in September Danny Wilson, Bruno Alves, Kenny Miller and Graham Dorrans have all worn the armband and Martin’s January arrival could see it passed to him.
The 32-year-old was club captain at Norwich City before swapping Carrow Road for Ibrox and Murty admitted he would have to “think about it more deeply.”
“It would be difficult with a new guy coming into the club. I have no doubt he has captain potential because of his leadership,” Murty said as quoted by the Scottish Sun.
“But I have to think about it more deeply.
“He’s a manager in the making, I would suggest, in terms of his knowledge and the way he conducts himself and his manner around the place.
“So if we can get him to impact on our players then he will be a really good signing. I’m confident the guy that he is, he will make us better.
The veteran defender has picked up 29 caps for Scotland as well as making over 300 appearances for the Canaries, including over 125 in the Premier League.
Wallace looks set for an extended spell on the sidelines after missing the Light Blues’ trip to the United States to face Corinthians and Atletico Mineiro in the Florida Cup.
Martin’s loan deal with the Gers runs until the end of the season while his Norwich contract has 18 months to run.
Despite being captain at Norwich, Martin had fallen down the pecking order under manager Daniel Farke in recent months before making the move to the 54-times Scottish champions.
In other Rangers news, there have been discussions held about the Gers’ hunt to sign this international playmaker from the Premier League.
