Nasser Djiga: Danny Rohl plans to agree permanent deal for Rangers loanee
Danny Rohl is keen to agree a permanent deal for Nasser Djiga to join Rangers from Wolves after his successful loan spell, sources have told Football Insider.
The 23-year-old has established himself as an important part of Rohl’s squad this season, despite not always being selected as part of the starting XI.
There was an £8million option to buy included in the deal to sign him on loan from Wolves, and should their transfer budget stretch to it, the boss is keen to agree terms.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Rohl views Djiga as a valuable asset in his side and is reluctant to see him leave.
A lot will depend on Rangers’ budget ahead of a busy transfer window and whether Wolves have plans for the centre-back ahead of their imminent relegation.

Football Insider revealed on 18 March that Rangers could find it difficult to sign Djiga permanently given the finances involved in any deal with Wolves.
He is on a long-term contract at 2030 at Molineux and they are considering him as potentially being part of their squad in the Championship next season.

However, Rohl is keen to convince him to stay at Ibrox and if they can reach an agreement over the price tag, he is hopeful of keeping the centre-back.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Yeah, I’m sure in an ideal scenario Rangers would be interested in making Djiga’s move permanent, but it’s a difficult deal to do.
“Danny Rohl would like to make the deal permanent at the end of the season, but whether it’s financially viable for Rangers remains to be seen.
“The price tag makes it difficult for Rangers to try and sign him on a permanent basis.
“For Rangers, there’ll be lots of areas of the squad they’ll be looking strengthened in, so they might not be able to fork out that money to sign Djiga on a permanent basis.”
Wolves set to hit Rangers with another transfer blow
Djiga is not the only player at the centre of a transfer saga involving Wolves and Rangers, with both clubs in the race to sign BA Hacken star Silas Andersen.
Football Insider revealed on 25 March that Wolves are the favourites to sign Andersen and could beat both Rangers and Celtic in their pursuit of the midfielder.

Rob Edwards’ side are preparing for their imminent relegation from the Premier League, and the 21-year-old has been identified as an option to help them bounce back.
The Old Firm duo both remain interested in the midfielder after previously pursuing a deal in January, but cannot compete financially with the Premier League club.
The Black Country outfit are set to be boosted by parachute payments if they suffer relegation, which is likely to boost their spending capability.
