Nasser Djiga was imperious again on Saturday as Rangers beat Dundee United 4-2 to go top of the Scottish Premiership.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee has come into his own in recent weeks, despite his stint at Ibrox initially beginning in rather shaky fashion at the start of the campaign.

The 23-year-old has played every single minute of the Gers’ last three league games, and he is set to continue to play a key role in their race to secure the title between now and the end of the season.

Djiga’s form has prompted questions regarding a permanent stay at Ibrox, given that his loan deal contains a clause for the Glasgow giants to turn his switch permanent for a fee of £8million.

Rangers will have money to spend this summer, but they must use it wisely if they want to continue to establish themselves among Scotland’s strongest teams once again.

Nasser Djiga shines again vs Dundee United

Football Insider revealed last week that Danny Rohl is keen to keep Djiga permanently after his recent string of performances, and the boss would have been delighted with what he saw once again on Saturday.

The centre-back notched a stunning 12 defensive contributions throughout the game, as he and his teammates were able to prevent a spirited Dundee United side from taking anything from the game.

No player on the pitch won more tackles or made more interceptions than the Rangers star, as he proved once again how valuable he has become to his loan club, especially in this instance with the absence of Emmanuel Fernandez.

With that in mind, the club hierarchy should surely be doing everything in their power to try and stump up the cash to buy Djiga in the summer, to ensure that they continue to show their support for Rohl and the project that he is building.

A permanent deal is there for the taking for Rangers, provided that they are willing to commit enough cash to make a sale worthwhile for Wolves.

They haven’t always spent wisely in the market in recent years, but Djiga is outlining himself as a more surefire star with every passing game.

Djiga is perfect long-term Rangers partner for Emmanuel Fernandez

Football Insider recently revealed that Rangers are set to block any approaches for Fernandez this summer, as they aim to build their team around the 24-year-old long-term.

Their defensive resoluteness has been a key hallmark of their impressive form since Rohl took the reins, and much of that has fallen to the reliability of Fernandez and Djiga.

It has already begun to blossom into an important partnership at the heart of the team, and the pair clearly share a good understanding with each other.

With that in mind, if Rangers could find a way of keeping hold of Djiga, then they could have the spine of their defence in place for several years to come.

It will undoubtedly be an expensive deal for Rangers to strike this summer, but they should be doing everything in their power to try and make it happen for Rohl.
