Man City have had a season to forget so far, and things are going from bad to worse for Pep Guardiola’s men at the moment.
City managed to progress into the quarter-final of the FA Cup on Saturday (1 March) by defeating Plymouth Argyle 3-1, which kept their hopes of winning silverware alive this season.
However, the Premier League giants are already out of the Champions League and failed to reach the EFL Cup final.
Guardiola’s side have also struggled to compete in the Premier League and they trail league leaders Liverpool by a shocking 20 points.
City are in a fight for top-four football this season and their upcoming game against Nottingham Forest on Saturday (8 March) will have a key impact on that.
City have been hit with injuries throughout this campaign with lengthy issues for Rodri and Oscar Bobb, while the likes of Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland have dealt with smaller tweaks throughout the season.
Nathan Ake confirms news after months of pain
Nathan Ake is now someone who can be added to that list as the 30-year-old took to Instagram to confirm that he has fractured his foot and recently underwent surgery on the situation.
He said, “This has been such a frustrating season for me but I have now had a successful surgery on a fracture in my foot which has been bothering me for months and I am looking forward to the future! Rest and recover now, see you soon Cityzens and thank you for your support.”
Ake was forced off at half-time against Plymouth at the weekend, which appears to have been the final straw on this lengthy injury battle for the Netherlands international.

Ake’s surgery will be a blow to City due to his versatility and ability to play in various positions, but it has been an injury-plagued season for the former Bournemouth defender which has led to the club considering other options.
