Ndombele exit tipped to fund two Tottenham signings as potential replacement named – pundit

Kevin Phillips has urged Tottenham to get Tanguy Ndombele off the wage bill as soon as possible.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Sunderland and England striker said the 25-year-old’s exit could fund “a couple of signings” before the transfer deadline.

Ndombele has been training on his own since he reacted badly to being substituted against in an FA Cup clash against Morecambe on 9 January.

Tottenham

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider today the club are targeting a central midfielder and targets include Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat and AC Milan’s Franck Kessie.

Paris Saint-Germain are said to be in talks with Ndombele and Spurs over a potential loan deal.

The London club want PSG to cover the player’s wages in full.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Ndombele’s future, Phillips said: “Just get it done.

“Ndombele is clearly not in Conte’s plan.

“If they can get him out and get him off the wage bill they could use that money to fund a couple of signings.

“That is one that I’m sure Spurs would like to get done very, very quick.

“It just hasn’t worked out for Ndombele at Spurs. He’s had a few managers now so I think it’s best for all parties that he leaves.”

Chelsea

Speaking on Ndombele yesterday, PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino said: “I’m not talking about Ndombele because he’s not in our club.

“PSG are open to progress, to improve.”
