Ndombele set for Tottenham freeze-out after source update today – pundit

Tanguy Ndombele could be frozen out at Tottenham after he failed to secure a move away, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted Nuno Espirito Santo does not want Ndombele at Spurs and will only use him when absolutely necessary.

Football Insider first revealed on 19 August the France midfielder had told Tottenham chiefs he wanted to quit the club by the end of the transfer window.

A Spurs source has updated today to Football Insider to reveal a deadline-day exit was on the cards after the player again made clear his ‘desperate’ desire to leave.

He has not featured for the London club this season under new manager Nuno.

Ndombele moved to Spurs for a club-record £55.4million fee in the summer of 2019 but has failed to be a consistent performer.

“Firstly, it wasn’t just him that wanted to leave,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“The player wanted to leave but the manager didn’t want him.

“It’s a different situation to Harry Kane. The situation is where he hasn’t got his move, for whatever reason. But if the manager didn’t want him, just because he didn’t get his move he’s not going to reintegrate him back into the team.

“You look at Harry Winks, he can’t get any game time and I’m sure he’s ahead of Ndombele.

“He might bring him back in and use him when necessary but it will be on his terms.

“It’s going to be a frustrating season for Ndombele, for sure. Or at least a frustrating four months until January for him.”

Ndombele played 46 times across all competitions last season and chipped in with six goals and four assists.

The 24-year-old has four years left to run on his Spurs contract.

In other news, Tottenham dealmakers have been hailed for “brilliant” late deal as a “very scary” situation is exploited.
