New Wolves signing suffers injury blow, possibly out until September – report

By Danny Wright

Phil Osofu-Ayeh’s start to life as a Wolves player has taken a big blow as he could be ruled out of action for over a month, according to a report.

Ghana Soccer Net claims that the new Wanderers signing arrived at Molineux in June with an “unspecified injury” and will miss the beginning of the 2016/17 Championship season.

Express and Star reporter Tim Spiers has previously claimed on his personal Twitter account that manager Nuno Espirito Santo might be forced into signing a new right-back this summer due to Ofosu-Ayeh’s injury and that it was dependent the time-frame.

However this latest report indicates that Wolves will be without the Ghana international for a number of their opening fixtures of the season, including clashes against Middlesbrough, Derby and Hull.

It is understood that he will miss the opener against Boro and may be out for a further four weeks from that point onwards, meaning he could be out until September.

Nuno’s only other option at right-back is Matt Doherty, however Daily Mirror reporter James Nursey has claimed on his personal Twitter account that his future at Molineux is still not certain.

Wolves could now be forced into giving Doherty a chance to impress at the start of the next season due to Ofosu-Ayeh’s setback.

Ghana Soccer Net adds that the young right-back arrived from Eintracht Braunschweig already suffering with an injury.

In other Wolves news, this striker has been confirmed to have left Molineux.
