Newcastle United left-back Massadio Haidara has dropped a massive hint that he will leave the club this summer.
Haidara, 25, is out of contract at the end of next month and having made just two appearances in all competitions this season, he is expected to leave St James’ Park after five years.
The Frenchman took to his personal Instagram account on Tuesday to send a message of thanks to the Tyneside club in what looks very much like a goodbye message.
“Thank you for everything Newcastle,” he said.
Football Insider verdict
Haidara has had a really difficult few years at Newcastle and it’s amazing that he managed to see out the entirety of his contract without being sold or released sooner. Since arriving from Nancy in 2013, the left-back has made just 54 appearances across all competitions due to injury issues and a severe lack of good form. Benitez gave him what looked like a farewell appearance in the 3-0 win over Chelsea on Saturday when the ex-France Under-21 international came off the bench for the final few minutes of the game. Newcastle fans cannot expect to see Haidara again though and he will now face the uncertain time of having to find a new club. His lack of appearances in the last year will not help his cause and neither will his fitness issues. It’s more than likely that Haidara will move back to France as there surely won’t be any English club willing to sign him up.
In other Newcastle United news, Benitez has been in contact with this title-winning colossus ahead of a potential summer deal.
