‘Newcastle are being armlocked into selling Alexander Isak to Arsenal’

Newcastle United could end up being forced into selling Alexander Isak to Arsenal due to potential financial fair play as well as profit and sustainability issues.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes that Isak “would fit into that Arsenal side” if he moved to the Emirates Stadium.

Football Insider revealed that Newcastle’s concerns surrounding PSR could lead to them cashing in on the 25-year-old in a bid to raise funds and then reinvest elsewhere.

Football Insider confirmed that the Gunners are plotting a big-money move for the Sweden international to solve their striker issues and provide Mikel Arteta’s side with some more firepower.

There are growing concerns at Arsenal about Kai Havertz’s performances, and Isak is seen as someone who could fill that gap for the club.

Newcastle United should be building around Alexander Isak

“This deal wouldn’t have any kind of legs at all if the FFP and PSR wasn’t the way it was,” Robinson told Football Insider.

“Newcastle building the way they were, they rose so rapidly to be in the Champions League, when you look at what they’re doing this season, they’re not so far off the top four.

Players like Isak are the ones they should be building the team around.

“Richest club in the world, potentially being almost arm-locked into selling one of their best players.

“Arsenal do need a number nine, we talk about it quite often, we talk about it all the time.

“Arsenal are in desperate need of a number nine.

“Yes, they’ve had a blip in form and you say they score goals from all over the team, but when they don’t, can you imagine what they’d score with a number nine?

Newcastle striker Alexander Isak

“Someone like Isak would fit into that Arsenal side, I just struggle to see how Newcastle would strengthen one of their rivals. I think

“They’d fight tooth and nail to keep hold of him, and if they had to sell, I don’t think it would be within the Premier League.”
