Newcastle ‘could accept huge Alexander Isak offer’ after confirmed news

Newcastle United could be forced to sell Alexander Isak as a result of the difficult financial situation at St James’ Park.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that a “huge” offer could test the Magpies’ resolve.

This is despite Eddie Howe’s recent claim that the club have no intention of letting the 25-year-old leave as he confirmed he is still part of their long-term plans.

Isak has attracted plenty of interest during his time at Newcastle and remains ones of the most highly regarded strikers in Europe, leading to speculation over his future.

Meanwhile, the club have had to deal with issues surrounding the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, which are set to limit their spending again in January.

The Magpies were forced to sell Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson in the summer to help balance the books, and may need to cash in on another asset to invest again next summer.

This has led to speculation that a big-money bid for Isak could force the club’s hand as it would help them to reinvest in their squad.

Alexander Isak future remains up in the air at Newcastle

Brown told Football Insider on 4 November that he had heard whispers about a potential move to Arsenal amid frustrations about Newcastle’s ambition.

Now, the former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted clubs could be prepared to test Newcastle’s limits with offers for the striker next summer.

Isak is one of the hottest properties in Europe,” he told Football Insider.

“If their financial situation is how we’re led to believe it is, a huge offer for him could prove too much for the club to ignore.

“There are plenty of clubs interested in him and they could test how far Newcastle are willing to go.

“It’s possible that the situation could be taken out of their hands and they have to let him go.

“He’s such an important player there, so it’s no wonder Eddie Howe is coming out and saying they don’t want him to leave, but for the good of the club, they might have to.

“The problem, then, is where they go to get another striker of that quality to replace him.

“Because the money from his sale will likely be reinvested into the squad in the areas they want to improve, but they’ll then need a new striker as well.”
