‘Newcastle could agree £60m Bryan Mbeumo deal’

Newcastle United are one of several Premier League clubs to have shown an interest in Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo heading into the summer transfer window.

The Cameroon international has registered 18 goals and eight assists in 39 appearances this season.

The 25-year-old is under contract at Brentford until June 2026, but they hold the option to extend his deal by a further 12 months.

Mbeumo, who is valued at around £60million, has been with Thomas Frank’s side since 2019, having signed for just £5.4million from French club Troyes.

Brentford are braced for Mbeumo bids this summer, with Newcastle among the sides monitoring his situation in west London.

Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Newcastle can afford to pay Brentford’s asking price to sign the winger.

Newcastle transfer verdict revealed after stunning twist

Borson questioned how many deals Newcastle will be able to agree this summer, with Eddie Howe’s side in the race for Champions League football.

He told Football Insider: “It depends where they put their priority this summer.

“I don’t think they’re going to sell. There is all this talk about selling Isak. I don’t believe that.

“I can’t see who’s got the money to do that deal, and if you’re not selling your best players or you haven’t got a young player to sell for a big profit, then you’re going to be restrained if you’re at the limits.

“I think they can afford a deal like Mbeumo, but the question is how many of those deals can they do.

“They are looking to buy two or three players, so how many of those £60million deals can they do?

“There won’t be that many of them without selling and I don’t think they’ll be selling soon.”

Alexander Isak to stay at Newcastle after stance revealed

Football Insider revealed on 19 April Newcastle are set to price rivals out of signing Alexander Isak ahead of the summer transfer window.

Arsenal and Liverpool have watched the forward closely and are interested in making a mega-money move for the Sweden international.

However, with Newcastle well placed to qualify for the Champions League, they are in a position to refuse offers for the 25-year-old this summer.

Howe’s side currently sit fourth in the Premier League table heading into the final three games of the season.
