Newcastle eye seven-figure move for Championship goal expert - report
By Harvey Byrne
Derby attacker Tom Ince is an £8million target for Newcastle, according to a report.
The Sun has claimed that Toon boss Rafa Benitez has identified the 24-year-old Championship goal expert as a player who he believes can strengthen his side.
However, it is also believed that second tier rivals Derby are determined to keep their star man, who has an impressive haul of nine goals and three assists in 28 appearances in all competitions this season.
Goal expert Ince made the move to the Rams permanently in the summer of 2015 for a fee of £4.75million from Hull after a successful loan move.
He has been a huge success in the Midlands with a total of 32 goals and 12 assists in 93 encounters.

The young player is predominantly a right-winger, which is a position currently occupied by Matt Ritchie at Newcastle.
However, Benitez may see Ince as better suited to the Premier League with his club currently in second place, six points clear of third.
Ince is still currently contracted to Derby until 2019, but with his side placed down in seventh he could look for a way out of Steve McClaren’s team to a promotion rival.
Football Insider verdict:
Ince would be a big statement of intent from Newcastle, especially at £8million. The once thought of bright prospect has established himself as a star in the English second tier during his time at Blackpool, Nottingham Forest and Derby with 62 goals in 190 encounters in total. He would surely help the Mapgies secure their status back into the Premier League and under the right management from Benitez he could even finally fulfil his early potential. Ince’s pace and trickery would provide a new threat to opposition defences and he would be a huge improvement on 27-year-old Ritchie in the short and long-term future for the club.
In other Newcastle transfer news, the Toon were quoted £20million for this Championship star.
