Newcastle fans blast ‘horrendous’ news after Calvert-Lewin talks update

Newcastle United supporters have slammed the club’s perceived lack of ambition to return to the top four amid recent interest in players being reported.

Football Insider revealed [23 June] that Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s proposed move to St. James’ Park from Everton is progressing with “advanced talks” between the clubs, with teenage talent Yankuba Minteh potentially going the other way – but in separate deals to assist both clubs’ PSR obligations.

Newcastle have also been credited with interest in Wolves defender Max Kilman and England U21 goalkeeper James Trafford from relegated Burnley.

Lloyd Kelly has already been snapped up earlier this month from Bournemouth, while Newcastle fulfilled their obligation to buy Lewis Hall for £28m plus add-ons.

Fans on Tyneside have aired their fury at Newcastle’s list of transfer targets, claiming the players in question do not have what it takes to breach the top four as Eddie Howe’s side did in 2022-23.

Newcastle United fans’ anger at potential Premier League recruits

Newcastle United supporters have taken to X to voice their concerns, frustrated with the club for their pursuit of targets they do not feel can improve Howe’s squad.
