Newcastle fans convinced one star ‘doesn’t want be here’ after ‘useless’ display vs Athletic Bilbao
Newcastle’s clash with Athletic Bilbao did not come without a major concern for Eddie Howe over one players performance alongside an injury scare.
Howe is coming under pressure at Newcastle, despite having won three of their four Champions League games prior to the visit of Athletic Bilbao to St James’ Park.
Newcastle’s 3-1 loss at West Ham came under heavy scrutiny and has left the Toon in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
Dan Burn had put the Toon ahead in the first half with a magnificent header, where victory would continue to cement their position in the top eight of the league phase.

Anthony Gordon slammed by fans
Anthony Gordon has come in for criticism at Newcastle for his individual performances and the winger did himself no favours to supporters against Athletic Bilbao.
“The left hand side of Gordon burn and Joelinton is honking. None of them can play a simple pass. Great header by burn but the left is a glaring weakness in the side,” a fan commented on his display.
Whilst one fan claimed: “Gordon doesn’t want to be here.“
Get Gordon off now. Useless. God knows what Woltemade is thinking having to play with players like him. He should have held out another season for Bayern and play with Diaz and Olise,” a fan posted.
“Tell you what, for all the ‘wanting to put things right ‘ we’ve been awful. Gordon and Joelinton don’t want to keep the ball. Woltemade can’t find a pass. Awful,” another supporter said.
A Toon fan said: “Haven’t seen us play this bad since.. last Sunday, can’t play out for toffee and Gordon thinks he’s playing in turquoise.”
“Gordon needs to come off his head is totally gone at the minute he’s absolutely shocking here!!!,” one disgruntled fan said.
Gordon injury blow
The 24-year-old was substituted off in the first half with an injury, which despite his poor form is still a blow to Howe.
Howe says he cannot question Gordon’s commitment to the team, and the winger will also not want to harm his England chances with a spell on the sidelines.
Any long-term absence for Gordon though will give either Harvey Barnes or Anthony Elanga an extended run in the team.
