Newcastle fans explode at ‘horrific’ decision as new Chelsea footage drops

Newcastle United fans were left incensed by referee Simon Hooper as he missed a “blatant” decision during their Premier League clash v Chelsea.

Eddie Howe’s side suffered a 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge after goals from Nicolas Jackson and Alexander Isak, before Cole Palmer’s strike proved to be the winner shortly after half-time.

However, it was an incident shortly before Jackson’s opening goal which left the travelling supporters baffled, as they exploded at the referee.

Levi Colwill sent Bruno Guimaraes to the ground as the midfielder was primed to shoot in what looked to be a golden opportunity for the Magpies to take the lead.

However, Hooper waved play on – despite Colwill appearing to indicate that the foul was outside of the box in fears of having given away a penalty – and the hosts took the lead just minutes later.

The VAR officials were also unable to intervene with the foul taking place outside the box, leaving Newcastle fans stunned by the decision.
