Newcastle fans mock Leeds after their damaging defeat against Reading
By Amir Mir
Leeds suffered a damaging defeat at the hands of Reading on Saturday evening – and Newcastle fans on Twitter have mocked their promotion rivals.
Garry Monk’s side were beaten by a Yann Kermorgant first-half strike which helped his side leapfrog the Whites in the Championship table.
It means Leeds move down to fifth where they are now on 69 points from their 39 matches, 11 points behind the automatic places and six points ahead of seventh-placed Sheffield Wednesday.
One Newcastle supporter mocked the Elland Road faithful by stating that he was waiting for Leeds to catch Newcastle up in the table.
Rafa Benitez’ side recorded a narrow 2-1 home win against Wigan earlier on in the day to move one point clear of second-placed Brighton.

Furthermore, they are now 12 points ahead of the Yorkshire club with the duo set to meet at St James’ Park on April 14.
There are a number of big games coming up for Monk’s side, starting with a tricky away trip to Brentford on Tuesday night.
Thereafter, they will host Preston North End at Elland Road before traveling to the north east for the biggest game of their season.
Poor results for the promotion hopefuls could damage the club’s chances of finishing in the top six and even boost Newcastle’s hopes of securing promotion.
It is highly likely that Benitez’ side will finish in the top two while Leeds will be hoping they can maintain their current spot in the table.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter
