Newcastle fans rage as Everton troll Anthony Gordon online

Newcastle United supporters were outraged by a social media post from Everton’s official social media account mocking Anthony Gordon for his penalty miss at the weekend.

The two sides battled out a goalless draw at Goodison Park on Saturday (5 October), but Gordon did have an opportunity to break the deadlock from the penalty spot.

Jordan Pickford stepped up to save the penalty as the 23-year-old failed to punish his former team, which is something Everton embraced on social media.

Everton edited a video of Gordon’s penalty with a buzzer noise added when Pickford saved it which has angered Newcastle supporters.

Jamie Carragher also questioned Everton’s post after everything that Gordon had done during his time at Goodison Park.

The England international came through Everton’s academy and went on to make 78 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing eight assists.

Newcastle United fans slam ‘disgraceful’ Everton post

Everton created the edit after a fan had claimed they wished the buzzer played, but it led to Newcastle fans calling their rival club “tin pot” and “classless.”
