'Horrible', 'A bottle job' - Newcastle fans rage over return of Yohan Cabaye v Crystal Palace
By Russell Edge
Newcastle United fans were left furious on social media after Yohan Cabaye made his return to St James’ Park with new club Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The French midfielder departed the north east club for French giants PSG back in the winter transfer window of 2014, having originally joined from Lille in 2011.
However he moved again in the summer of 2015, joining Crystal Palace and then manager Alan Pardew, who was Cabaye’s boss on Tyneside.
While he visited Newcastle with Palace back in 2016, missing a penalty as Newcastle secured a 1-0 victory, fans still expressed their displeasure with the 31-year-old, booing and jeering his every touch in the Magpies’ 1-0 win.
However, he was the centre of controversy in the first half when he scythed down Newcastle defender DeAndre Yedlin with a lunging scissor tackle, with both players and supporters urging the officials to show him a red card.

He was only shown a yellow, and fans quickly turned to Twitter to express their anger, many suggesting that if the tables had been turned Newcastle would have been a man down.
Here, Football Insider has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best tweets:
Imagine if that was Shelvey and not Cabaye?
He would've been sentenced to 10 years hard labour in North Korea. #NUFC
