Newcastle fans react to 24-year-old quitting the club
By Danny Wright
Newcastle fans have remained blasé on Twitter over Florian Thavin’s claims that he will no longer play for the club again.
The 24-year-old has been on loan at Marseille since January 2016 but he has since revealed to French radio station RMC that his deal at the French club became a permanent one as soon as he played three games for the club.
He added that he has ‘no doubts’ about playing for the Ligue 1 outfit next season.
Thauvin was a £12million signing at St. James’ Park in 2015 but he failed to make any impact whatsoever in his short time at the club.
The French winger scored once and set up two goals in 16 appearances for the Magpies before he was sent back to Marseille.

Despite his improved form back in his home country, the Toon Army don’t seem to mind that they have seen the back of Thauvin once and for good.
Here are a selection of tweets from Newcastle supporters about Thauvin:
If Thauvin has gone back to France for £9.5mil does that mean we've actually made £40mil profit after relegation & a squad revamp? ???????????? #NUFC

I'm surprised we can pull £9.5m from Marseille for Thauvin. Sure, it's a £5m loss, but still reasonable considering he flopped hard. #nufc

So Thauvin wants to stay at Marseille and not come back to us, absolutely fine by me!! #NUFC

If true, it shows how little Thauvin was thought of at #nufc if the clause to make loan move permanent was that he played 3 games. Three!

Thauvin & Townsend are examples of players who like a fashion gutter next to them and Newcastle won't offer that. Lessons. #nufc

@ChrisDHWaugh to much of a light weight, not up to the physicality of the English game.

This season, Thauvin has been lethal for his Ligue 1 employers.
In 35 appearances in all competitions, the winger has scored 10 goals and bagged eight assists.
He is joined in an impressive Marseille squad with other former Premier League players such as Patrice Evra, Remy Cabella and January signing Dimitri Payet.
