Newcastle fans react on Twitter to Perez inclusion v Brentford

By Dominic Toner

Ayoze Perez has been recalled to the starting XI against Brentford – and the Newcastle fans gave mixed views on Twitter to the decision.

Rafael Benitez has made one change to his side, with Perez replacing Mohamed Diame in the attacking position.

Perez, 23, is expected to play behind frontman Dwight Gayle and will hope to stake his place in the side.

Newcastle revealed their team on their official Twitter account.

Perez has been given the opportunity in the starting XI and he has not featured since the EFL Cup win against Wolves in September.

Benitez is still trying to decided on his favoured attackers and striker Aleksandar Mitrovic once again missed out.

Newcastle fans reacted on Twitter with mixed thoughts to Perez’s inclusion.

Here are a selection of the messages:

Perez joined Newcastle in the summer of 2014 from Spanish club Tenerife.

He was unable to stop the famous club from suffering relegation in the last campaign and has struggled to have an effect in the Championship.

The former Spain Under-21 international has played in 10 encounters for Rafa Benitez’s side in England’s second tier with a return of just three goals, two coming against Cheltenham in the EFL Cup.

In other Newcastle team news, Rafael Benitez has praised this player ahead of the match against Brentford.
