Newcastle United supporters have turned to social media to react to news that manager Rafael Benitez has decided to start Javier Manquillo for the club’s trip to Watford on Saturday afternoon.
The Magpies revealed their starting line up via their official Twitter account, revealing that the Spanish boss had chosen to make two changes from the shock 1-0 home defeat to basement club West Brom last weekend.

Manquillo and Jacob Murphy come in for DeAndre Yedlin and Matt Ritchie as Newcastle look to try and clinch what, at the start of the season, appeared to be an unlikely 10th placed finish come the end of the season, after having been promoted from the Championship as title winners 12 months ago.
Prior to kick off, Benitez and his men sit in 10th place, a point ahead Brighton, who have played a game more, and three points behind Leicester City, while Watford find themselves in 14th, and would go level on points with a win at Vicarage Road.
Of the changes made by Benitez, it was the decision to start the Spanish full back which had the Toon Army up in arms on Twitter, with many questioning why he took the place of Yedlin.
Here, Football Insider has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best tweets:

Manquillo for Yedlin is a strange one even if we are playing in midweek as well 🤔

When the two clubs met at St James’ Park back in November it was the Hornets who ran out comfortable winners, DeAndre Yedlin netting an own goal on the way to a 3-0 win for the visitors.
In other Newcastle United news, the club look set to shock everyone with a swoop for a top flop.
