Newcastle fans react on Twitter to Darlow blunder v Norwich
By Danny Wright
Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to jump to the defence of goalkeeper Karl Darlow after a huge error almost led to their first league loss in six games against Norwich on Tuesday.
Darlow rushed out of the penalty area to volley the ball clear, but completely mis-kicked the ball which left Cameron Jerome all the time in the world to walk the ball into an empty net.
Rafa Benitez’s side were 1-0 up in the first minute thanks to Ayoze Perez but a goal from Jacob Murphy brought the teams level before Jerome’s tap in put the title-favourites behind.
Jamaal Lascelles spared Darlow’s blushes in the 81st minute as the Magpies picked up a crucial point away from home.
Most Newcastle fans were quick to give their support to their number one goalkeeper, although not all of them were so forgiving.

Darlow has started every single league game for the club since the end of September and has kept 11 clean sheets in 24 appearances in all competitions this season, conceding just 18 goals.
The 26-year-old was signed by the club at the beginning of the 2014/15 season from Nottingham Forest before being loaned back to them for the remainder of the season.
The goalkeeper has made a total of 34 appearances for Newcastle now after enjoying a long run in the starting 11 due to the long-term injury to Tim Krul.
