Newcastle fans react on Twitter to Hayden return v Leeds

By Matt Farr

Isaac Hayden has returned to the Newcastle starting eleven to face Leeds on Friday – and fans on Twitter are delighted.

The 22-year-old midfielder has featured just once for the title-chasing Championship side since the win over Derby on February 4, having been sidelined with an ankle injury.

But he has been named alongside Jonjo Shelvey in the Newcastle engine room for their upcoming clash with high-flying Leeds.

Newcastle announced their confirmed line-up on their official Twitter account ahead of kick-off.

Hayden has been a crucial figure for the Magpies this season, earning 23 starts from 28 Championship appearances.

He has contributed one goal and four assists, and fans are delighted to see him back in action for their side.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

The former Arsenal youngster comes into the side in place of Mo Diame, who drops to the bench as one of two Newcastle changes.

Aleksandar Mitrovic is also named in the starting eleven, as Newcastle seek to overcome an in-form Leeds side without their top goalscorer Dwight Gayle, who is injured.

A win for Newcastle can move them back to within two points of Championship leaders Brighton, who tightened their grip at the top of the table with a win over Wolves on Friday.

In other Newcastle news, Rafa Benitez has admitted he had to beg the club to sign this player.
