Aleksandar Mitrovic was stretchered off with his leg in a brace during Newcastle’s FA Cup clash with Birmingham on Saturday – and fans on Twitter are concerned at the devastating blow suffered by the striker.
The Serbia international was handed just his sixth start of the season by manager Rafa Benitez, but is now facing an extended period on the sidelines.
Mitrovic fell awkwardly as Daryl Murphy opened the scoring for the away side, and suffered a suspected broken leg.

If there's one player I'd wish would get a decent chance it's Mitrovic. His injury really doesn't look good at all.

The incident occurred just five minutes into the game, with Yoan Gouffran coming on to replace the injured Mitrovic.
The injury could rule the striker out for much of the remainder of the season, coming as a huge blow to Newcastle in their bid to win promotion back to the Premier League.
The Magpies are currently second in the Championship, two points behind title rivals Brighton – who have a game in hand.
Mitrovic has contributed five goals and two assists from 16 appearances this season, but has played a backup role to top scorer Dwight Gayle.
