Newcastle fans savage ‘atrocious’ Sean Longstaff after display vs Wimbledon

Newcastle United were able to progress in the EFL Cup after defeating Wimbledon 1-0 on Tuesday (2 October), but supporters weren’t impressed by Sean Longstaff’s performance.

The Magpies earned a place in the fourth round of the competition where they will face Chelsea after Fabian Schar scored a penalty at the end of the first half.

The result continued Newcastle’s strong start to the season, with their defeat against Fulham in the Premier League being their only loss so far, but supporters didn’t enjoy Longstaff’s individual efforts.

The _-year-old played the entire 90 minutes, but fans questioned his passing, movement, and overall performance.

Longstaff has fallen out of Eddie Howe’s team in recent weeks in the Premier League after not featuring against Fulham, and only appearing for a 13-minute cameo against Man City.

However, the central midfielder was brought back into the team for the EFL Cup tie, but his efforts weren’t good enough in the eyes of the Toon Army.

Newcastle fans felt Sean Longstaff’s performance was ‘dreadful’

Even though Newcastle secured their place in the next round of the competition, fans were still quick to point out Longstaff’s “atrocious” performance in the middle of the park.
