Newcastle fans share their verdicts on the club’s January window

Newcastle made zero transfer additions in January – and fans on Twitter believe their club will spend big in the summer.

Rafa Benitez’ side are currently sitting second in the Championship table and are looking likely to return to the Premier League.

During the January window, they were hopeful of bringing in Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend to the club, but a move did not materialise.

Despite the former Tottenham man being one of their top targets last month, supporters were not too fussed that the club did not make any additions to the side.

Fans stated on social media that their aim this season is to earn instant promotion and they currently sit in second place, three points ahead of third-placed Reading, with two games in hand.

The Magpies host Ian Holloway’s QPR on Wednesday night as they have the opportunity to claim top spot with a win.

One supporter joked that having Christian Atsu and Mo Diame back for those games from the Africa Cup of Nations is like new signings.

Fans believe that Benitez’ side have enough quality in their team to go up this season but they do expect the club do be busy in the summer.

However, one supporter did express his frustration at the lack of January additions as he believes the club don’t have enough Premier League quality players.
