Newcastle fans suggest Eddie Howe is getting sacked as new details emerge

Newcastle United fans are calling for Eddie Howe to be sacked amid reports of tension between the boss and sporting director Paul Mitchell.

This comes after the club’s move to sign Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi collapsed despite extensive negotiations in recent weeks.

Reports have claimed Guehi was the manager’s top target and he wanted nobody other than the England international, while Mitchell preferred other options.

The sporting director was brought into the club to handle transfer negotiations earlier this summer, leading to frustrations over Howe’s hands-on involvement.

It has been a slow window for Newcastle which has seen Odysseas Vlachodimos, William Osula, Lloyd Kelly and John Ruddy come in as the only arrivals.

Fans have grown frustrated with the lack of first-team-quality signings, and are now taking their frustrations out on Howe after the latest twist.

Newcastle United fans rage as tension grows between Eddie Howe and Paul Mitchell

All four of Newcastle’s summer signings heading into deadline day have been additions to improve squad depth – with two of them goalkeepers.

This is despite having lost Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh, meaning Jacob Murphy, Miguel Almiron, Emil Krafth and Sean Longstaff are still playing regular first-team football.

For a club aiming to qualify for Europe and compete for trophies, fans are insisting that is not good enough.

Many have now taken to social media after missing out on Guehi, with their anger aimed at Howe and Mitchell amid demands for the boss to lose his job.

In other news, Newcastle are plotting a late move to sign a new goalkeeper.
