Newcastle fans wowed by new Anthony Gordon footage that’s emerged online

Newcastle United fans have praised Anthony Gordon’s “second to none” work off the ball after footage from their fixture against Arsenal emerged.

The 23-year-old can be seen chasing down Leandro Trossard until the Arsenal player puts the ball out of play, with Gordon earning a high five from Eddie Howe for his efforts.

The Magpies defeated Arsenal 1-0 at St. James’ Park on Saturday (2 November), with Alexander Isak’s 12th-minute header being enough to separate the two teams.

Gordon picked up the assist for that goal and created two chances throughout the game, but it was his work off the ball that fans were impressed by.

The England international won five duels, made six defensive actions, and produced four recoveries as he showcased his work rate.

Newcastle supporters praised that aspect of Gordon’s game, while highlighting that it was similar to how Howe used to set his team up.

Newcastle fans feel Anthony Gordon’s work off the ball is ‘underappreciated’

Gordon has scored two goals and provided one assist so far in the Premier League this season, with his attacking attributes often gaining plenty of plaudits.

However, fans feel that his commitment off the ball deserves more credit as they believe he’s on his way to becoming a “genuinely world-class player.”
