Newcastle favourite David Edgar has handed his support to his former club as they bid to secure promotion to the Premier League on Monday night.
The 29-year-old defender took to his personal Twitter account ahead of Newcastle’s clash with Preston to wish his old side ‘all the best’ on what could be a landmark evening for the club.
All the best to @NUFC tonight. Secure promotion and the town will be mental tonight ⚪️⚫️

Newcastle can join Championship rivals Brighton by sealing their immediate promotion back to the Premier League with a win over Preston at St. James’ Park.
The Magpies were made to wait to pop the champagne having suffered a shock 3-1 defeat to Ipswich last week, but they can ease the pressure once and for all on Monday.

Edgar spent three seasons with the club in the Premier League, having risen through the academy ranks at the club.
But after a lack of regular opportunities, the 41-time capped Canada international quit the club to join fellow Premier League outfit Burnley in 2009.
A win for Newcastle can also retain their slim hopes of winning the Championship title, but a Brighton win against Bristol City on Saturday could end the race entirely.
