Newcastle have ‘serious concerns’ about mass exodus – ‘all of a sudden that’s five players’

Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali could be among a number of star players looking to leave Newcastle United after a disappointing season.

Both midfield stars, aged 28 and 25 respectively, are attracting interest from top clubs in the Premier League and across Europe ahead of the summer transfer window.

Should Eddie Howe’s side miss out on qualification for any European competition, they could find it difficult to keep hold of their best players.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Newcastle have “serious concerns” about their squad being raided this summer.

Howe is determined to keep hold of his best players, but with interest from the likes of Man City and Liverpool, it may prove to be a nightmare transfer window for Newcastle.

Could Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali leave Newcastle?

Football Insider revealed last month that Newcastle are bracing for offers for Tonali, with the likes of Man City, Man United and Arsenal all interested.

Guimaraes, meanwhile, has attracted interest from the same clubs as well as top sides in Europe, with doubts also growing about his future.

Should Newcastle miss out on European qualification, they could struggle to keep their best players happy, leading to growing concerns behind the scenes.

“Newcastle have some major concerns this summer,” Brown told Football Insider.

“If they don’t qualify for Europe, questions are definitely going to be asked, and there are fears that some of their best players could be tempted away.

“The two midfielders, Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali, are attracting a lot of interest.

“Obviously, Newcastle don’t want to lose them, but if clubs come in for them they might not have a choice because it’s been a really disappointing season so far.

“Then there’s interest in other players as well, [Anthony] Gordon, [Lewis] Hall, [Tino] Livramento.

“All of a sudden that’s five players, and five really important players, who could be on their way out and that puts Newcastle in a really tough spot.”

Which other Newcastle stars are attracting interest?

Guimaraes and Tonali are not the only high-profile players at St James’ Park who could be looking for a move this summer amid interest in a number of star names.

Football Insider revealed on 31 March that Arsenal want to sign Tino Livramento, who is believed to be interested in a move away should a deal be agreed.

The England international has also been a long-term target for Man City, with Pep Guardiola’s side expected to be in the race for his signature.

Fellow England stars Anthony Gordon and Lewis Hall are also attracting plenty of interest from Premier League clubs and across Europe ahead of the summer window.

While the Magpies will refuse offers for the majority of their players and hope to keep their squad strong, there are growing concerns they could be lured away.
