Newcastle likely to accept Alexander Isak offer – expert
Newcastle United could sell Alexander Isak and Kieran Trippier this summer with multiple “big money” transfer deals on the cards at St James’ Park.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Scotland Frank McAvennie explained that the club will look to upgrade on the 33-year-old skipper in the transfer window.
Alongside the right-back, McAvennie named Anthony Gordon, Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes as players that could be sold to ease financial concerns.
Football Insider revealed on 13 May that Isak is the most likely of the three to leave.
Trippier has struggled with injuries this season, featuring in 27 of Newcastle’s 37 games so far in the Premier League after playing in all 38 last season.
Newcastle could sell Kieran Trippier this summer
With big-money deals being weighed up for some of the star players at St James’ Park, a major exit may be on the cards, with Trippier among those considered.
As McAvennie explained, Newcastle will need to improve their squad and will look to build upon recent success if they qualify for Europe.
“They’ve got to get rid of some of the players, haven’t they, because of this stupid rule. They’ve all got to sell before they can buy,” he told Football Insider.
“There are a couple of players who they’re going to sell for good money.
“Gordon is one of them, I don’t know if he’ll go. There are a couple of players, Isak as well. He looks as if he could be the one. They’ve got Guimaraes as well who people are interested in.
“That’s going to be big money. They might sell a couple of them.

“Trippier has done brilliantly, but he’s not been great of late. It might be ‘Well done, you’ve taken us to the next level, you can go now’.
“It’s whether they’re going to step up. They’re definitely going to step up.”
