Newcastle will fight with Aston Villa to secure the signature of Blackpool attacker Bright-Osayi Samuel in the summer, according to a report.
The Sun claim the Championship leaders have been keeping close tabs on the highly rated teenager, 19, in recent weeks.
It is said that Newcastle are “lining up a summer move” for the forward, who can play anywhere across the forward line but is predominantly a right-winger.
The Sun report that League Two outfit Blackpool have slapped a £1million price tag on Samuel after snubbing a bid of £500,000 for him last summer.
Newcastle could face a transfer scrap with fellow second-tier big guns Villa for a player who has 14 months remaining on his contract with the Seasiders.
Samuel has no plans to sign a new Blackpool contract, which makes the club vulnerable to a swoop from a wealthier club who can offer him a more lucrative contract.
He has taken League Two by storm this season, scoring five goals and supplying three assists while establishing himself as an indispensable member of the first-team squad.
Since making his first-team debut for the club in 2015, the Nigerian-born star has made 68 appearances in all competitions, which have yielded five goals and five assists.
Back in August, the Express claimed that Arsenal and Tottenham had both sent scouts down to the Hive to watch Osayi-Samuel in action against Barnet.
In other Newcastle transfer news, Mike Ashley is plotting a sensational £30million bid.
