Report: Huge boost for Newcastle fans ahead of the January transfer window
Newcastle United have decided to keep Rafa Benitez as manager despite the fact the club sitting in the relegation zone, according to a report.
The Daily Mirror claims that the Newcastle United board back Benitez even though he hasn’t won any of his last nine league game.
The board believe the manager is “key” to the club being sold as he adds “add tens of millions” to the Magpies value, and the report claims he could get £40million to spend in the January transfer window.
Newcastle United sit 18th, one point adrift of safety, ahead of playing West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday.
A win could see the Magpies move as high as 12th depending on other results.
Newcastle United have lost eight of their last nine league games, but have beaten the Hammers already this season, and desperately need to stop the slump.
The Magpies were 3-0 winners at St James Park against West Ham in August with Aleksandar Mitrovic, Joselu and Ciaran Clark getting the goals.
The game against the Hammers is the start of an important run of fixtures for Newcastle United, as they’re set to face fellow strugglers Brighton and Stoke City over the next few weeks.
Benitez’s side have also got to face undefeated Manchester City before the end of the year, who are currently clear at the top of the Premier League.
In other Newcastle United news, the Magpies are reportedly keen to sell two out-of-favour stars in January.
