Newcastle have made a fresh approach for Arsenal duo Jack Wilshere and Lucas Perez, according to a report.
The Mirror have claimed on their website that Magpies boss Rafa Benitez is growing frustrated in the transfer market and he is now attempting another go at signing the pair from the Gunners.
It is said that the north London club themselves are ready to do business for both Wilshere and Perez.
However, Arsenal are reported to want their money back on Lucas Perez, who signed for a massive £17million last summer, which could price Newcastle out of a move.
Wilshere, meanwhile could be more affordable with the 25-year-old entering the final year of his contract in north London alongside being told he can go after an injury ravaged few years.
However, the Englishman, who spent the last campaign on loan at Bournemouth is said to have other options, including Premier League rivals Swansea.
Football Insider verdict:
After Newcastle’s 2-0 defeat against Tottenham it was clear that the Magpies needed some added quality in their side. The north east giants were well in the match until a moment of madness from Jonjo Shelvey. However, they still created very little and duo Perez and Wilshere could provide the difference in Benitez’ side. Wilshere himself has proven to be Premier League quality and is only being allowed to leave Arsenal due to his injury record, while Perez could still come good in the Premier League after a fine scoring record in Spain.
