‘Newcastle make new Yoanne Wissa move – my sources tell me Howe’s verdict’
Newcastle United are set to push “extra hard” to complete the signing of Brentford attacker Yoane Wissa.
The DR Congo international started 34 Premier League games for the Bees last season, scoring 19 goals and picking up five assists across the course of the campaign.
His impressive performances for the West London side have caught the attention of a number of the top sides.
Tottenham are reportedly leading the race for Wissa, but Newcastle are also interested in adding the forward to their ranks.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that the Magpies are going to push hard to get a deal for the 28-year-old across the line.

‘Newcastle keep missing out on transfer targets‘
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Newcastle will be highly motivated to sign Wissa, due to the fact that they’ve missed out on a number of other deals.
So far this summer, Eddie Howe’s side have made just one notable addition, bringing in Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest.
Wyness added that he was “surprised” at Newcastle’s lack of business in the transfer market.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Newcastle have been very quiet so far. They haven’t got their targets across the line. So they may try extra hard for Wissa. That’s what I’m hearing from my sources. I think he would be an addition that Eddie Howe would like.
“I’m a little surprised at Newcastle not getting more done so far. I don’t think it’s through lack of effort. I just think they’ve been pipped at the post in a few deals. We’ve just got to see how this pans out.
“They’re in there competing, which is going to make it such an interesting transfer window, but also make the agents very, very happy, I’m afraid.”

‘Conor Gallagher makes Newcastle transfer decision’
Meanwhile, Conor Gallagher would reportedly be open to a return to the Premier League this summer amid interest from the likes of Newcastle and Aston Villa.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who claims that the 25-year-old wants to play regularly ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
As a result, the opportunity to return to the Premier League is believed to be of interest to the midfielder amid ongoing speculation about his future at Atletico Madrid.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 13 July that Atletico will demand £50million to sell Gallagher after paying around £33million for him last summer.
