Newcastle: Monaco to consider Lamine Camara offers amid Magpies scouting mission
Newcastle United target Lamine Camara could be on his way out of Monaco this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The Magpies are set to continue watching the 22-year-old midfielder in the latter stages of the season, but it is understood that their interest is not in the advanced stages at the moment.
Nevertheless, a deal could still be on the cards for them this summer, as sources have indicated that Monaco are willing to consider the idea of selling the Senegal international, if the right offer comes in for him ahead of next season.
The Ligue 1 outfit pride themselves upon developing young players and selling them on, and they are already aware that Camara is likely to be one of their next stars to move on.
Newcastle’s transfer plans have seen them identify Camara as a player with huge potential to improve in the future, and it is clear that their scouts have liked what they have seen so far.

Camara is now into his second season with Monaco, after they shelled out a fee of around £13million to sign him from Metz in the summer of 2024, and his stock has continued to rise since then.
The youngster has been a hugely important player for Sebastien Pocognoli’s side so far this term, having already started 15 league games as part of his club’s bid to secure Champions League football for 2026-27.
| Player | Year | Joined | Fee |
| Benjamin Mendy | 2017 | Manchester City | £52m |
| Bernardo Silva | 2017 | Manchester City | £43m |
| Youri Tielemans | 2022 | Leicester City | £40m |
| Fabinho | 2018 | Liverpool | £39m |
| Anthony Martial | 2015 | Manchester United | £36m |
His development on the French Riviera has already seen him attract interest from the Premier League, with Manchester United being linked with him earlier in the season, and Newcastle now tracking him.
Monaco have seen a number of impressive players go on and become a success in the Premier League over the years.
- Thierry Henry – Left Monaco for Juventus in January 1999, joined Arsenal seven months later
- Emmanuel Petit – Joined Arsenal from Monaco in 1997
- Patrice Evra – Man United signed him from the Ligue 1 club in 2006
- Yaya Toure – Played for Monaco briefly before joining Barcelona in 2007, and then Man City in 2010
- Bernardo Silva – Man City paid £43.5m to sign him from Monaco in 2017
- Fabinho – Left the Principality to join Liverpool in 2018
It has been a well-trodden production line for clubs at the top of the English pyramid, and it is beginning to look increasingly likely that Camara could soon become the next man to step down that path.
Newcastle to be blown out of the water in Elliot Anderson race
Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness recently told Football Insider that Newcastle are likely to be outspent in the race to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson this summer due to the level of competition.
The Tynesiders have identified their former star as another of their midfield targets for the upcoming window, but both Manchester clubs are also chasing an expensive deal for him.
Wyness suggested that the spending power of City and United remains far superior to that of the Magpies, and he expects that duo to continue to step up their respective pursuits of the England international.
Regardless of how much Newcastle want to secure a move to bring their academy graduate back to St James’ Park, it looks unlikely if Man City and Man United are fully committed towards a deal.
