Newcastle open preliminary talks to sign Tosin Adarabioyo – sources
Newcastle United have opened preliminary talks over a deal to sign Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo, sources have told Football Insider.
The Magpies are currently leading Tottenham in the race to secure a deal for the 26-year-old once his contract expires at the end of June this year.
The centre-back has rejected multiple contract extension offers from Fulham and will leave Craven Cottage on a free this summer.
Newcastle could win race to sign Tosin Adarabioyo
There has been plenty of interest in Adarabioyo following his impressive performances since Fulham returned to the Premier League.
The defender has now made 132 appearances for the Cottagers after arriving from Manchester City back in 2020.
Football Insider revealed last month Tottenham have been in regular dialogue with Adarabioyo’s representatives about him making the switch to north London this summer.
The former England youth international has also been attracting interest from fellow Premier League sides Liverpool and West Ham.
But Newcastle are currently the frontrunners in the race for his signature as Eddie Howe looks to add to his defensive options.

The Manchester-born centre-back has made 25 appearances for Fulham in all competitions this season, but Marco Silva’s side have failed to win any of their past three games in his absence.
Adarabioyo has averaged 1.1 tackles and 1.3 interceptions in his 20 Premier League outings this campaign, while his pass completion rate sits at 84.4 per cent.
The defender is now heading into his final few weeks at Craven Cottage, with Newcastle in pole position to land him on a free transfer despite interest from several other suitors.
