Newcastle plan to accept Kieran Trippier offer – Insider

Newcastle United are set to entertain offers for Kieran Tripper after making a final decision about his long-term future at St James’ Park.

This is according to former Man United, Sunderland and West Ham scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the Magpies will prioritise Tino Livramento’s development in his position.

Trippier, 34, has started just three of Newcastle’s seven Premier League games so far this season, with his 21-year-old teammate chosen on a more regular basis.

That was, in part, down to the former England international suffering an injury which saw him miss the start of the season – but Eddie Howe’s side are now backing Livramento to step up.

Football Insider revealed in the summer that Newcastle were willing to accept offers in the closing stages of the window amid interest from Everton and clubs in Saudi Arabia.

No formal offers arrived in the end, and Trippier remained at St James’ Park, but Brown has now insisted that the club will still entertain any offers they receive.

Come the summer of 2025, the right-back will have just one year remaining on his current contract, and Newcastle are said to be keen to cash in rather than see him leave for free.

Newcastle United to entertain Kieran Trippier offers

Reports earlier this season claimed the right-back is now “desperate” to leave Newcastle in search of football after Livramento’s emergence as the first-choice option.

Now, Brown, who has a wealth of experience working with players at the top level including over a decade during Man United’s most successful period, insisted that Newcastle will capitalise on any interest in the right-back.

I’d expect Trippier to leave if that interest is still there, and the right offer comes in,” he told Football Insider.

“He’s 34 now, and Livramento is only 21 so there comes a time when they’re going to have to prioritise his development ahead of Trippier.

“They spent about £30million on Livramento as well, so it’s about time he shows what they paid for.

“It’s one I can definitely see happening and I’ve heard Newcastle would be open to it.

“Letting him leave would also free up quite a lot of money on their wage bill.

“He’s still one of their highest-paid players, and if his abilities are beginning to decline, which I’m told there are some concerns about, they could look to cash in.

“I’d expect, if they get the opportunity, they’ll let him go.

“They can’t buy people like Livramento and leave them on the bench while you’ve got a 34-year-old Trippier who, with respect, isn’t getting any better.”
