By Dominic Toner
Football Insider rates the Newcastle players after their 0-0 draw against Reading in the Championship.
Karl Darlow 6 – The goalkeeper didn’t have a save to make in the first-half. Slightly busier in the second period and made a couple of smart saves, but mainly untested.
Jesus Gamez 6 – He came into the side for just his third league appearance of the season and saw lots of the ball. Didn’t look out of place in the team.
Jamaal Lascelles 6 – The defender was reliable at the back and dealt well with Yann Kermorgant.
Ciaran Clark 6 – The centre-back gave an impressive display and was dominant in aerial battles with the Reading forwards.

Matt Ritchie 7 – The winger showed glimpses of his skill with a number of dribbles and passes. Saw his efforts hit the post in the first-half.
Jonjo Shelvey 7 – The midfielder showed a real desire to support the attack, as well as dominating possession in the centre of the park.
Jack Colback 6 – The combative midfielder did his job in front of the defence and broke up play with some good challenges.
Yoan Gouffran 6 – He looked lively for Newcastle and had a couple of efforts saved by the goalkeeper.
Ayoze Perez 6 – Saw an effort sliced wide of the post, but was mainly quiet during the match.
Daryl Murphy 5 – He scored in the win against Huddersfield in the last game, but was left isolated against Reading. The striker remains an important member of the squad, but this just wasn’t his game.
